Ricardo Energy & Environment has been selected by Scottish Enterprise, Highlands & Islands Enterprise and Scottish Development International to support Scottish companies to implement innovative renewable energy solutions around the world.

Ricardo Energy & Environment’s experience

For over 40 years, Ricardo Energy & Environment’s experts have been at the centre of the development of the renewable energy industry and have unique technical and international experience. Our recent work includes providing advice to develop energy systems in Scotland, and supporting international clients on energy generation and network solutions in Asia, Africa, the Caribbean and South America.  This experience and knowledge is being directly applied to support Scottish companies in developing their commercial offerings for small island countries or island networks around the world.

Over the last 16 years, Ricardo Energy & Environment has worked in nearly 100 countries and on over 1,500 projects. Much of this work is relevant to this project as it involved providing energy access to remote communities and islands.

Key Team Members

Simon Morris Account Manager

Simon has 14 years’ experience working in the energy sector and is based in Glasgow. He provides technical advice on small and medium scale renewable energy systems, particularly wind, hydro and grid solutions. He has also assessed the potential for local energy system solutions in Ireland.

Marcus Alexander Account Manager

Marcus is a consultant specialising in energy projects. His depth of experience comes from working on UK Government Programmes, European Commission and private clients. He has worked on projects involving renewable energy technologies, fuel cell systems, carbon/greenhouse gases reporting and monitoring of grant funded projects. Marcus has a strong ability to integrate with diverse teams and engage stakeholders at all levels. He is actively involved in engaging with companies through his current monitoring role of grant funded projects, delivering carbon reporting assessments and assessing applications for renewable energy projects.
As an Account Manager, Marcus will be the first point of contact for the member companies assigned to him, setting up and delivering the agreed programme of support for each of these companies, including organising and attending quarterly meetings with the clusters.

Jemma Howland Project Manager

Jemma has been a project manager for over 21 years and has a wealth of project management skills specialising in energy and environment projects. Her depth of experience comes from working on several UK Government Programmes, European Commission and private clients.
