Kite Power Systems (KPS) is developing a new renewable energy technology, using a new generation of kite to harness clean, cost-effective wind energy at utility scale.
The KPS technology can access wind energy at higher altitudes where the winds are stronger. The system is containerised and can be deployed readily to remote communities and disaster areas that need emergency power supplies.
Glasgow based KPS compromises of highly experienced engineers and technicians with financial backing from the Scottish and UK Governments and other international major investors. KPS anticipate first commercial deployments by 2022.
Products and Services
The KPS Airborne Wind Energy power generation system provides low cost, reliable power that should be added to any island-off-grid power mix. The significant reduction in required infrastructure (foundations, access roads, etc.) and containerised nature of the system, result in costs being a fraction of comparable renewable power sources with high capacity factors due to the wind resource at the 350m operating height. The KPS system is ideally suited to work alongside standard diesel generators or other energy storage systems providing grid quality power to island communities.
Currently KPS is developing the technology ready for commercial shipments in 2021/2022.
In parallel to the technology development KPS is keen to develop a project/sales pipeline.
